Sam Villa® Brushes: Care InstructionsUpdated a year ago

BAMBOO BRUSH CLEANING TIPS:

1) Use a brush cleaner designed with hard, wide-spaced, teeth on one end and longer bristles or wire on the other end. Try the Sam Villa Brush Cleaner available on www.samvilla.com.
2) Utilize the wide toothed end of the cleaning brush to rake through each row of bristles to loosen tangled knots of hair at the base of the brush.
3) Work gently to avoid damaging bristles.
4) Dampen the brush with water. Utilizing the longer bristled end of the cleaning brush along with a few drops clarifying shampoo or liquid hand soap, lightly move the cleaning brush back and forth over the brush barrel and bristles to clear away residue build up.
5) Do not soak brushes in harsh liquid sanitizers.
6)
Rinse the brush with warm water.
7) Rinse with warm water and lay the brush on a clean, absorbent towel to completely air dry.
8) Never soak any wood brush in any liquid as soaking compromises the wood with cracking splitting and spotting.

THERMAL BRUSH CLEANING TIPS:

6) Rinse the brush with warm water.
7) Combine equal parts hot water and white vinegar in a spray bottle.
8) Spray the bristle end of the brush and let it sit on a clean dry towel for 10-15 minutes.
9) Rinse with warm water and lay the brush on a clean, absorbent towel to completely air dry.

For the most efficient sanitation invest in an Ultra Violet dry sanitizer to house brushes after cleaning.

In this regard to Texas, the proper procedure would be:

1) Remove visible debris and hairs (our Brush Cleaner is ideal for this step)
2) Immerse the brush in a state board “recognized” EPA approved disinfectant (such as Barbicide®) for 10 minutes.
3) After this 10 minute time period is up, the stylist would remove the brush and rinse thoroughly.
4) Allow it to dry before use.

NOTE: Some states recognize that stylists avoid disinfecting their boar bristle/wooden brushes and therefore allow for the stylist to spray their brush with a disinfectant (allowing 10 minute contact time), rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry before use.
